World Of Beer Brunch- Easton

Columbus is bursting with a multitude of delectable restaurants featuring remarkable brunch options.

Over the weekend, we ventured to the World of Beer to experience their version of brunch (which is often referred to as “BEERunch”). We arrived as soon as they opened with eager anticipation. We were delightfully surprised to see that many others were excitedly crowding in with us. Navigating our way toward a cozy booth in the back, we settled in our seats and quickly commenced with our typical brunch chat. After making the difficult decision between the Belgian Beer Waffles and the Beer Batter Pancakes, we excitedly waited for our enticing items while catching up with our friend, Renee.

Time vanished rapidly as we discussed only the most important Bachelor franchise updates. Before we had recognized how much time had passed, the manager  approached us apologizing for the long wait for the food and assured us it would be arriving shortly. Once our food arrived, it was undeniably worth the wait. We both ordered the Belgian Beer Waffles topped with fresh strawberries and maple bourbon syrup…a confectionery combination that did not disappoint! Neither did the Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix. In all reality, what is brunch without a delicious Mimosa or a spicy Bloody Mary?

As we polished our plates (sans leftovers), the manager returned to confirm the quality of our meals. For our inconvenience and lengthy wait, he kindly offered to bring us a complimentary dessert. We graciously accepted his generous offer of Belgian Waffle S’mores. This sweet, decadent treat was the perfect way to end a delightful brunch.

FabFitFun Starter Box | Review

Over the last several years, it has become increasingly popular to subscribe to a box full of goodies and have it delivered straight to your door each month. The items inside the boxes can range anywhere from beauty products to products your dog can sample! The options are truly endless.

I’ve tried Birchbox and Ipsy in the past and I’ve enjoyed them and their cheap prices of $10 per month. It was always so exciting to open your mailbox and see the package sitting there waiting to be opened. They were enticing to me, as these boxes contained samples of more expensive products that I probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. If you’re anything like me, you have a hard time shelling out your hard earned cash for a new product without being sure it will work . These boxes have helped me find and sample products that I now love and also showed me some products that don’t necessarily work for me.

I started hearing about FabFitFun a few years ago on Pinterest. At the time, it didn’t really interest me because it was honestly not in my budget. I also believed that it was a box that mostly focused on fitness related products. It wasn’t for me at that point.

Recently, I’ve been hearing more and more about this box mostly from many celebrities doing their own unboxing. It sparked my interest, seeing what the boxes contained. There were beauty products, coffee mugs, scarves, hair products, etc.

I decided to give it a try and order their starter box, which was on sale for $19.99. It arrived two weeks later and now I’m excited to share what I got in my box!  While I am aware that there are an infinite amount of reviews out there, I wanted to give my unbiased and honest review. I am not affiliated with FabFitFun whatsoever. Let’s dig in!

1. Microfiber Yoga Towel $36

I’ve never used a yoga towel before but I am extremely excited to try it out! Especially after reading that this product is moisture-wicking which means it extracts sweat off the skin to the outside of the towel. It’s a necessity for yoga that I never knew I needed!

2. Marrakesh Argan and Hemp Oil $22.99

I can’t wait to try this on my hair. Argan oil and hemp seed oil has been proven to have great effects on hair. This product promises silky, frizz free shine! It also smells amazing!

3. Pure Cosmetics Stripped Palette $50

If you bought the starter box like me, you will either get the smoked or stripped palette. I got the stripped and it’s beautiful! I tried all 12 colors on my arm (the way all the awesome beauty gurus do!) and all but one color showed up for me which was Milky Way. My favorite is Dusk which is a shimmery gold color. This palette also comes with a mirror and a double sided brush for easy application.

4. Spongellé Body Wash Infuser Buffer $16

I have seen this product in a few unboxing videos and I was thrilled to see it in my own! This flower shaped sponge is a cleanser and exfoliator. It appears you can use the sponge more than once, however I’m guessing the ingredients infused in the sponge won’t last more than 2-3 uses.

The total value of the items in my box come to $124.99 which is amazing considering I only paid $19.99! I was worried that I would get items that I wouldn’t want or use but I plan to use each item I received. I cannot wait to get my fall box and tell you all about it as well!

8 Essential Tips to Manage Your Daily Tasks

“For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned.” -Benjamin Franklin

Having your life together isn’t always as easy as it seems. Every one of us is juggling multiple tasks each day. Sometimes it can get overwhelming and difficult to manage. Even those fabulous Instagrammers you follow with the perfect looking lives, have to work daily to keep their lives as organized as they appear. In an effort to combat the stress of remembering all of our daily tasks, we’ve compiled a list of things we do to keep ourselves on track. Taking the time to plan and organize your life has many benefits. You’ll save yourself a lot of time, stress, and frustration if you give a few or all of these tips a try!

1. Invest in a good planner. Planners are essential to our daily routine. Having a place to consolidate your daily tasks is the first step to successfully managing your life. We both use a Happy Planner and we love them. However, you may not want or need a planner so large or detailed. There are so many options  to choose from so take your time and pick one that’s perfect for you.  You may also try a planner app if a physical planner does not appeal to you.

2. Make time to arrange your schedule. We find it helpful to take a few minutes at the beginning of each day to review your schedule. Take a look at your planner to see what you have planned for the day. This not only reminds you of what needs done, but also helps figure out other daily decisions like what to wear or what you need to pack in your bag for the day.

3. Keep your home organized. When everything is in it’s place, you save yourself so much time searching for it when you really need it. Try to practice putting things back where they belong when you’re done using them.

4. Prep your meals ahead of time. If you’re about to have an incredibly busy week and you barely have time to breathe, let alone think about meals to plan for the week, try meal prepping. Plan a few meals that you can portion out into several containers for the week so you can just grab and go.

5. Write down daily goals you need to accomplish. Each day, decide what you need to get done, write it down, and check off each item once you complete it. It’ll keep you on track with chores and errands and it feels great to check things off your to-do list!

6. Stay on top of your bills. Set a reminder on your phone or planner for each of your bill due dates. If you don’t want to worry about remembering due dates each month, a lot of companies offer an auto pay option so you don’t have to keep track. However, we do recommend writing down due dates somewhere so you know when to expect each bill to come out.

7. Stop procrastinating. As tough as this is (believe us, we are guilty too!), stop putting things off until the last minute. Getting things done ahead of time will save so much stress. Once you get the important tasks completed, then you can binge watch Netflix all you want. You’ll probably enjoy it more too, because you won’t be thinking of all the things you should be doing.

8. Take time in the evening to prepare for the next day. Make a list of things you could prepare for the next day. A few things we like to prepare in the evening would be our outfits for the next day, pack our lunch. and pack up our work bags.  It’s a great start to your day when you already have things prepared and ready to go.

Easy Caramel Macchiato Recipe (without using an espresso machine)

You wake up Saturday morning.

The sun is shinning, the birds are singing, and you’re instantly craving a delicious cup of hand-crafted coffee. Sounds like the setting of a Folgers commercial, am I right?

Then, those bright clouds darken when you suddenly remember… you don’t own an espresso machine. Not to mentioned that beloved local Starbucks is oh-so far away. We know exactly how you feel. We’ve been experimenting with how to make those fancy coffee drinks you’ve been craving (you know, like the ones they make at Starbucks) without having the expensive equipment or leaving the comfort of your kitchen.

The recipe below is our version of a caramel macchiato and, to be honest, it tastes just as good as what you can purchase at an actual coffee shop. The only struggle we faced in this experiment was getting the milk frothed properly. Other than that, it’s a very simple drink to create. Hopefully, with our detailed how-to, you’ll be able to enjoy your own homemade macchiato!

What you’ll need:

  • Dark Roast or Espresso Roast coffee (we used a dark roast k-cup)
  • Milk
  • Vanilla Syrup
  • Caramel Sauce
  • A Seal-Tight Container

How to prepare:

-First, you’ll want to start prepping your milk as this process will take the longest. We used about 6 oz. Pour the milk into the seal-tight container. It’s important to note that your container is only half full. If the container is completely full, the milk won’t froth properly.
-Shake the container vigorously for a least 60 seconds.
-Next you’ll want to get your coffee started. If you’re not using a Keurig, you can brew your coffee first. We used a Keurig and we selected the smallest cup option.
-While your coffee is brewing, take the lid off of your container. Put the milk in the microwave and warm for about a minute. Keep an eye on it while it heats as it will overflow if it gets too hot.
-Once your coffee has brewed, add a splash of vanilla syrup and stir.
-Add the milk to the coffee and make sure to get the froth out as well.
-Top your macchiato off with caramel and enjoy!

Columbus Underground Presents Best Bites: Tacos Review

At the end of the night, we were prompted to vote for our favorite vendor of the evening. Our favorites are presented below!

Danielle and Renee voted for Local Cantina’s CrunchWEEZY Double Decker Taco which consisted of a soft flour shell overlapping a hard corn shell. The shells were filled with queso dip, guacamole, black bean corn salsa, brisket, lettuce, chipotle cream, and queso fresco. Local Cantina came in 5th place for the evening.
Lindsay’s favorite of the night was Nada’s Hot Chicken Taco. The ingredients of this taco are a lot more simple but the flavor was incredible! It was a soft flour shell with a spicy piece of chicken breast, topped with pickles and coleslaw. Nada was voted 2nd place out of 11 vendors.

Top 10 Beach Essentials for your Summer Vacation

We’ve all been there…

You excitedly pack your belongings for the perfect beach day and rush off to get the fun started. You settle down on the sand and realize you’ve forgotten one of your beach essentials. Here’s our list to ensure you never forget the necessities again!

  1. Sunscreen:

It is so important to protect you skin. We both have fair skin and we burn easily so a good sunscreen is a must! For added protection, bring chap stick for your lips as well!

  2. Sunglasses:

Sunglasses are the perfect accessory to take to the beach. Forever 21 has a great selection of trendy styles for an affordable price. It also doesn’t hurt to protect your eyes from the sun!

  3. Reading material:

Bring something to read, whether it’s a novel (check out our book of the month section for ideas) or a magazine. It’ll be nice to have something to do when you don’t feel like splashing around in the water. Plus, the background noises at the beach provide a relaxing ambiance.

  4. Water bottle:

It’s important to stay hydrated in when you’re spending time outside. Consider investing in something that keeps your water cold for hours, such as a Corkcicle tumbler.

  5. A beach towel:

Once you get out of the water, you’ll need something to dry off with!

  6. A chair:

This one may not fit in your beach bag but it’s a good idea to bring something to sit on. You’ll be glad you did so you don’t get immensely sandy. Once you get out of the water, sand seems to stick ten times easier. Bringing a chair will decrease the amount of mess you’ll have to deal with.

  7. Flip flops or sandals:

Trust us, you do not want to wear tennis shoes or heels to the beach. Just don’t do it.

  8. Beach accessories:

You’ll have tons of fun playing beach volleyball or building sand castles. Buy a cheap boogie board at a tourist shop and have a blast in the water! You’re never too old for these things!

  9. Nail Polish:

After all, sand is the perfect exfoliate! Give yourself a pedicure on the beach. Essie or NYC makes great polishes that last a while. Their color selections are endless!

  10. Friends and/or family:

Another thing that won’t fit in your beach bag but you won’t want to forget it! The beach will be a lot more enjoyable if you spend your time with your loved ones.

Book of the Month: Riveting Reader Reviews | August 2017

Book of the Month|August 2017

The Disaster Artist

The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell. We understand this is a change from our typical blog aesthetic and an unusual choice for “book of the month” pick, so let us explain.

Our initial impression:

About two years ago, we were enjoying the company of some close friends when one of them suggested we watch the movie, The Room. Initially, we were hesitant as this movie comes with quite the reputation (an infamous one and often referred to as the “greatest bad movie” ever made). Despite our protests to watch something more critically acclaimed, we inevitably found ourselves captivated by the terrible acting, substandard green screen, and raw emotion of Tommy Wiseau (or at least we think).

At the conclusion of this absolute trainwreck of a featured film, we agreed it was the worst movie we had ever been forced to endure. And yet, this cinematic flop has found its way into an infinite amount of inside jokes among our friends.

A Simple Synopsis:

Our intrigue in Tommy Wiseau and The Room had dissolved until recently (when we stumbled upon a movie trailer entitled The Disaster Artist starring James Franco). From the first few seconds of this trailer, we knew instantly that this impending release was paying homage to the movie that had given us numerous cheap laughs and poor jokes.

So imagine our delight when we discovered that Franco’s new film is actually based upon a book. Written by Greg Sistero (one of the actors in The Room), The Disaster Artist provides its audience with first-hand insight into the peculiar and questionable mind of Tommy Wiseau.

We are thrilled to read Sistero’s perspective on the mysterious Tommy Wiseau and the cinematic disaster he created.

Be sure to read along with us this month and let us know your thoughts in the comments below! If you have read The Disaster Artist before, let us know what you thought!
